What is the most recent dynamic between Europe and China in matters of perceptions and soft power? In this workshop, members of The China in Europe Research Network (CHERN) Working Group 4 will present their latest research in the context of this key overarching question. Each day will include ample time for discussion and Q&A. CHERN, a COST Action, is a platform for knowledge exchange about China’s increasing presence in Europe among academic and non-academic communities. The Working Group organizing this workshop focuses on public diplomacy and knowledge production.
The workshop will take place 11th-12th March 2021. It will be opened with a keynote address by Frank Pieke (Modern China Studies, Institute for Area Studies, Leiden University), followed by a discussion. The following day, Zhang Yongjin (School of Sociology, Politics and International Studies, Faculty of Social Sciences and Law, University of Bristol) will give the concluding notes, also followed by discussion time.
