The India China Institute (ICI) will mark the 20th anniversary of its founding in 2004-2005 with a convening of panels featuring leading thinkers and experts on India, China, and the United States. The purpose of this symposium is to reflect on the current moment of domestic and international transformations in each country that have given rise to a post-liberal, post-American global order.
The symposium will span two days on April 24-25, 2025 in Starr Foundation Hall at the University Center located at Fifth Avenue and 13th Street in New York City. Welcoming remarks from New School President Joel Towers will be followed by four panels:
- The University under a Global Authoritarian Turn
- De-globalization and a New International Political Economy
- Contesting History and Memory; and
- India and China in the Making of a Post-Liberal World
ICI was founded at The New School in 2004 with a generous gift from the Starr Foundation to pursue new ways of thinking about the re-emergence of India and China on the world stage.
