What began as yet another face off along the LAC 8 months ago, took an ugly turn with 20 Indian soldiers killed in action on the night of June 14-15. Beijing's frustration is increasing in its inability to manage the crisis with a series of military and diplomatic talks resulting in failures, unlike Doklam. On the other hand, there is near consensus in India that the Galwan Incident marks an inflection point in India’s China policy. At the same time, China hasn't toned down its narrative that it is India’s growing belligerence fueled by its growing intimacy with anti-China forces led by US which is the reason for the unprecedented situation. In recent weeks, since it became increasingly certain that Joe Biden not Trump will move into the White House, there has been an unusual rise in commentaries on India in the Chinese media, an indication that the more China tries to 管控 or “control” India, the harder India touches China's nerve.
