On June 30, Beijing dealt a crushing blow to Hong Kong's freedom with the imposition of a draconian national security law that effectively bans dissent. Many democratic politicians and critics have been arrested. Elections have been postponed, and judicial and media independence are under assault. Yet the spirit of protest and resistance survives in Hong Kong's vibrant civil society. What do these changes mean for the future of freedom in Hong Kong?
